This low growing perennial only grows to be 6-10 inches tall and makes for a great ground cover or lawn replacement. It prefers rich, moist soils with dappled light but will grow fine in part sun and a wide range of soils if kept moist. It's flowers bloom from February through May and can be a range of colors including white, pink, purple, blue, and sometimes multiple colors on the same flower. Its flowers attract a wide range of butterflies and bees, including some of our specialized native miner bees. Many butterfly and moth species use this plant as a host for their larvae.
