This small tree grows to about 15' in height. It tolerates a wide range of light, soil, and moisture conditions. The beautiful white flowers emerge March through April, eventually turning into an edible plum May through June. It's fruit are sought out by a wide range of mammals and birds, so protecting the fruit may be a good idea. It is also a host species for many different beautiful butterflies including Eastern Tiger Swallowtail, Spring Azure, and Red-spotted Purple
