This deciduous to semi-evergreen shrub, in warmer winters, typically grows to be 6 feet tall and just as wide. Growing best in moist, rich soils in partial sun and tolerates a wide range of soil conditions and pHs. Its white flowers bloom May - June on finger sized racemes, attracting a wide range of butterflies and bees. The fruit/seeds are consumbed by birds from August and through winter.
