This large tree can reach heights up to 80 feet. It's compound leaves turn a beautiful golden yellow in the fall. It produces nuts that are edible to humans and favored by many animals including deet, squirrels, turkey, beaver, rabbits, and chipmunks. It is a host species to the Hickery Horndevil and Banded Hairstreak.
