Ninebark is a beautiful shrub that gets to be about 6 to 8 feet tall and just as wide. It prefers being protected from the afternoon sun. It can tolerate a wide range of soil conditions but doesn't like long periods of drought. Its clusters of smaller pinkish white flowers emerge May through July, attracting a variety of pollinators. The berries that form in late summer feed many birds and mammals.
Native to the Mountains and Piedmont of NC. Click to view its range in North Carolina.
