This large tree can easily grow to 100'. It will grow in a variety of conditions but prefers full sun, acidic soils, and wet conditions. It's small red flowers emerge January though March and are an important early nectar source. The leaves are a host to many species of insects and the seeds attract a wide variety of birds in the late spring and into summer.
