Sweet Shrub, also commonly know as Carolina Alspice, is a large shrub getting to be about 10' tall. Growing best in rich, moist soils, it tolerates a range of full sun to deep shade. It's beautiful fragrant and attractive maroon colored flowers appear from April through the end of May. While attracting butterflies and bees, it will also bring in many species of beneficial beetles.
