This medium sized tree typically grows to be about 50 feet tall. Growing in full or part sun, it will tolerate a wide range of soil conditions. Its unique bark grows long corky ridges. Its flowers are small and not visibly seen, but they're important for pollinators as they emerge in late winter. The seeds are consumed by a wide range of birds and the tree is a host to a large variety of insects.
