This beautiful perennial grows to be about 2 feet tall. Growing best in part sun, it can tolerate full sun if kept wet. It prefers moist to wet acidic soils of various compositions. In March and April, its pinkish white flowers put on a show. 

 

Native mostly to the Piedmont, but scattered in eastern NC. Click to view its range in North Carolina.
